    TOPIC:  Concrete Repair Due to Reinforcing Steel Corrosion

    Presentation will discuss the following topics:

    • ACI 563 Concrete Repair Specifications
    • Requirements of Durable, Compatible Concrete Repairs
    • Corrosion and Galvanic Protection
    • Repair of Corroding Post-Tensioned Structures


    The presentation will be interactive and will use project case studies to describe concepts and illustrate repair techniques. The presentation will be of interest to engineers responsible for evaluation and repair of reinforced concrete structures.


    About the Speaker

    David Whitmore is a registered Professional Engineer, a Fellow of the American Concrete Institute, a Fellow of the International Concrete Repair Institute, a Fellow of the Canadian Society of Civil Engineers, and he serves on corrosion and concrete repair committees of ACI, ICRI and NACE.

    David is President and Chief Innovation Officer for Vector Corrosion Technologies, a company which specializes in the evaluation and repair of reinforced concrete structures.

    He is past chair of ACI E706 Repair Application Procedures and has over 25 years experience in the concrete restoration industry. He was on the FHWA / SHRP II (Strategic Highway Research Program II) project “Bridges for Service Life beyond 100 Years” a project which addresses the design of new structures and repair of existing structures to achieve service lives of 100 years or more.
